The reigning U23/Junior Mixed Relay world champions, France, lost their crown and were unable to defend their chances until the end of the race. On the last leg, at the entrance to the final transition, Paul Georgenthum (5th on Friday in the individual junior event) crashed and injured his knee, forcing him to abandon the race. At that moment, the French relay team was in 5th position, a few seconds behind the four leading teams.
The event was won by New Zealand, ahead of Great Britain and the United States (full results here)
As a reminder, the French relay team was composed in order of Émilie Morier (winner of the U23 event on Friday), Boris Pierre (4th in individual Juniors on Friday), Jessica Fullagar (3rd in the Junior event on Friday), and Paul Georgenthum.
#TeamNZL are thrilled to deliver gold!!! #TeamGBR silver & #TeamUSA bronze.
