TRIATHLON – Tokyo 2020: Flora Duffy wins, Émilie Morier is the first Frenchwoman in 12th place

The Test Event for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games produced an incredible scenario, in which the four French women entered unfortunately played no part.

Firstly, the run was shortened from 10 km to 5 km due to excessively high temperatures before the start of the event. Secondly, the first two women to finish, Britons Georgia Taylor-Brown and Jessica Learnmonth, were disqualified for not contesting the finish (rule 2.11.f of the international regulations).

Victory therefore went to Flora Duffy of Bermuda, a two-time short-distance triathlon world champion (2016, 2017) returning after a year without competition at this level due to a long injury. Italy’s Alice Betto took 2nd place and Britain’s Vicky Holland 3rd.
