Alerts

The story that matters, before everyone else.

When the newsroom publishes an important story, a notification lands on your phone or computer. Not for every short item: only for what deserves reading right away.

No email needed. You can turn them off at any time in your browser settings.

How it works

A newsroom decision, not a bot

When publishing, the newsroom decides whether the story deserves a notification. By default there is none: it is an exception reserved for important stories, not short items.

The notification title and text can be written by hand to say in a few words why the story is worth it. One tap and the article opens.

Alerts can't be filtered by topic yet: you receive the same notifications as other readers, and you stay in control to switch them off.
