The brand is introducing its new range of 145 g saddles, built on an aerospace-inspired platform whose original project was designed in 2014 in collaboration with Airbus engineers.

The new version was developed with those same engineers, now based at the National Composites Centre. The aim was to improve ergonomics by studying how traditional saddles sag. The analysis highlighted two main problems: central sag and the pivot effect. Sag puts strain on soft tissue during aggressive pelvic rotation. The pivot effect makes the center of the saddle rise when the wings flex under pedaling load.

To solve these problems, Fabric used tailored fiber placement technology. This technique, which comes from Formula 1, allows carbon fibers to be positioned with precision. The HALO design joins the rear rails into a single base to eliminate pivot flex. The geometry of the wings was modified to retain the natural compliance of the spring-like rails.

The manufacturing process uses thermal molding of hand-laid carbon fibers. The range offers an “Ergo” option with a perineal pressure relief channel. This channel is covered with a lightweight foam to keep water and dirt out. The saddle has a carbon monocoque construction and measures 265 by 142 mm. The oval rails measure 10 by 7 mm, for a total weight of 145 g.

The ALM:HALO range is priced at €329.
