Garmin introduces the Edge 1060, its new high-end bike computer. Its main new feature is the integration of a microphone and a speaker, allowing riders to control certain functions via voice commands without taking their hands off the handlebars.
By saying “OK, Garmin“, cyclists can check their training data, request a route, search for points of interest, or report a road hazard. When paired with a smartphone, the Edge 1060 also allows users to send and receive voice messages via Garmin Messenger. The built-in speaker also broadcasts navigation prompts and a digital bike bell.
Enhanced navigation and advanced training features
The new bike computer offers several improvements for planning and tracking rides. It allows users to compare different routing options based on distance, elevation gain, or bike type, view information on route conditions, and spot points of interest such as cafés or restrooms. Users can also report road hazards and receive alerts about road closures reported by the Garmin community.
The Edge 1060 also features the brand’s signature training tools, notably real-time Stamina tracking, the Power Guide, and cycling ability metrics. It is compatible with Garmin Cycling Coach adaptive training plans and TrainingPeaks workout syncing.
Garmin has also upgraded GroupRide, adding detection of nearby group rides, real-time location sharing, and incident detection alerts. The workout screen becomes interactive, and the home screen can be customized. Finally, the reverse charging feature allows it to power certain compatible devices, such as Varia lights.
Price and availability
The Garmin Edge 1060 is available now at a suggested retail price of €799.99. Its claimed battery life reaches 20 hours under the most demanding conditions of use, and up to 60 hours in battery saver mode.
