BH Ultralight: a new sub-700g, more aero frame

BH Bikes introduces a new generation of the Ultralight, its race-oriented road bike. The carbon frame drops below 700 g, an 11% weight saving compared to the previous version, while aerodynamic efficiency improves by 12%. The goal is to retain the qualities of a lightweight, responsive bike in the mountains, while enhancing its performance on fast courses.

New BH Ultralight

The new Ultralight relies on Toray T1100G carbon fibers and the HCIM (Hollow Core Internal Molding) manufacturing process. According to BH, this construction reduces frame weight without sacrificing the stiffness needed for accelerations and changes of pace.

Aerodynamics inspired by the Aerolight

To improve high-speed performance, BH borrows several solutions developed on its Aerolight model. Kammtail tube profiles, the integrated fork, the aerodynamic seatpost, and refined junctions all help reduce turbulence. The development process notably utilized CFD simulations carried out in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country.

The manufacturer claims a 12% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency compared to the previous generation, equating to a 12% reduction in the power required to ride at 60 km/h.

A geometry still geared towards racing

The new Ultralight keeps short 405 mm chainstays and a 74° seat tube angle. Its BB386EVO bottom bracket standard also aims to optimize stiffness around the drivetrain area.

Tire clearance now accommodates widths up to 35 mm. This evolution broadens its versatility on rough roads, placing greater emphasis on comfort and grip.

Integration has also been revamped, featuring fully concealed cable routing, an integrated seat clamp, and compatibility with the SRAM UDH derailleur hanger. Additionally, the bike comes equipped with a magnetic Planck rear light integrated into the seat tube.

Available in three colorways, the new BH Ultralight can also be customized via the BH Unique program, which allows riders to choose different color combinations and finishes.
