Garmin launches a new high-end smart indoor trainer with the Tacx Nēra

Garmin expands its range of indoor trainers with the Tacx Nēra, a connected model designed for indoor training. It combines multidirectional movement, ±1% measurement accuracy, and a maximum power of 2,200 watts. It is also available in a version compatible with the Zwift Cog and Click system.

The Tacx Nēra integrates modules that allow the bike to move forward, backward, and laterally, to reproduce sensations closer to those of the road. It can simulate inclines of up to 20% and features a race mode designed to improve responsiveness during accelerations in compatible training applications.

We had the opportunity to test the device for the first time when it was presented, and our initial impressions are quite positive, especially regarding the preservation of a natural pedal stroke, even indoors.

Two versions to choose from

Garmin offers the Tacx Nēra with a pre-installed cassette, for easy setup, or in a Zwift Ready version, equipped with the Zwift Cog and Zwift Click controller. This system allows for virtual gear changes, particularly on Zwift and ROUVY.

The indoor trainer also benefits from integrated Wi-Fi and compatibility with the Tacx Training app, which provides access to training sessions and virtual routes. Users can also synchronize their Garmin Coach programs and data with Garmin Connect, particularly by pairing the Nēra with an Edge bike computer or a compatible smartwatch.

Finally, the Tacx Nēra can be paired with the Tacx Alpine gradient simulator, capable of reproducing inclines between -10% and +25%.

Price and availability

Both versions of the Garmin Tacx Nēra are available now at a suggested retail price of €999.99.
