With just a few days to go before the official presentation of the 2027 Tour de France, scheduled for October 22, rumors are beginning to take shape regarding the next Étape du Tour—specifically, its date and route. Several possibilities are emerging in this regard, mainly in the Alps.

An Étape du Tour on July 18, 2027?
This is the first interesting clue. While ASO has not yet announced any official date, Sunday, July 18, 2027, is already appearing on the schedules of some specialized tour operators, notably Sports Tours International, which markets trips centered around the Étape du Tour.
This date should obviously be taken with a grain of salt: it may simply be used as a placeholder pending the official announcement. Sunday, July 11, also remains a possibility.

Grand Colombier, Domancy, or Les Saisies?
Various reports regarding the 2027 Tour de France route point to several potential Alpine stages. A finish at Grand Colombier is also being discussed for Sunday, July 11, with a start from Villars-les-Dombes. This is a preliminary possibility for L’Étape du Tour, even though the route might be less mountainous than other scenarios. Personally, I’m not considering this option—the start and finish locations are too far apart, and the route isn’t prestigious enough.
Two days later, the Tour could run from Annecy to Sallanches, according to an announcement by the *Dauphiné Libéré*, passing through the famous Côte de Domancy. This choice would hold special significance, as Haute-Savoie will host the 2027 World Cycling Championships a few weeks later.
But it’s perhaps the scenario for the following day that catches our attention the most.
A finish in Les Saisies?
For the professionals, a Cluses–Les Saisies stage is being discussed for July 14. This possibility aligns with the information we’ve gathered on our own: according to a source we consider reliable, the finish of the 2027 Étape du Tour is indeed expected to take place in the resort of Les Saisies.
Another interesting detail: the route could take the Bisanne climb—specifically, the section used by the pros during the 2026 Critérium du Dauphiné. Not the classic route, which is already particularly demanding, but a shorter, steeper shortcut that could really take its toll at this stage of the race… Riders will then have to return to the main road via a short descent before climbing the final kilometer to reach Les Saisies, which will make for a spectacular finish, with everything needed to welcome the 16,000 participants.

Of course, it remains to be seen what will precede this climb. The area offers ASO numerous possibilities for designing a truly great mountain stage: Colombière, Aravis, Bisanne, Col des Saisies, as well as a detour through the Beaufortain region—and why not the Col du Pré or Roselend, already featured in 2025, or even the Plateau des Glières, which will be used during the upcoming 2027 Granfondo World Championships.

In any case, if our information is confirmed, one thing seems to be taking shape: the finish in Les Saisies could be the deciding factor in a particularly mountainous stage of the 2027 Tour de France. Several scenarios are already circulating on forums, but be warned: as we’ve said before, none of the passes mentioned have been confirmed yet.
If the date of Sunday, July 18, turns out to be correct, organizing L’Étape du Tour a few days after the pros pass through Les Saisies would be entirely feasible.
