The live grand finale will take place on Saturday, December 5, 2026, in the heart of Copenhagen. Forget the predictable scenarios where the first rider to cross the finish line automatically lifts the trophy. From now on, the prestigious rainbow jersey will be decided by the cumulative points total across two separate rounds. This new rule was designed to reward both tactical finesse and raw power. The first leg will introduce a formidable new concept: surprise checkpoints, or “Surge Checkpoints.”
Athletes will receive a warning 500 meters in advance, but the exact location will remain a secret until the very last moment. Riders will need to know when to make a bold move or conserve energy to avoid burning out mid-race. The second round will up the ante even further with a strategic route choice on every lap. Participants will have to choose between a flatter, faster option or a hillier, more demanding route. This challenging course promises more points but will take a heavy toll on their energy reserves. Every decision at the fork could thus shift the overall standings in an instant.
To ensure absolute fairness, all finalists will compete on rigorously calibrated Elite Justo 2 indoor trainers. The choice of a single studio in Copenhagen will finally bring together the world’s best riders in person. Cycling fans will be able to follow every attack and every tactical move live on streaming platforms.
This innovative format showcases the full power of innovation unique to virtual cycling compared to road racing. The future World Champion will need to demonstrate impeccable racing instincts and unwavering composure. It promises to be a spectacular event this winter, at a time when the road season is usually on hiatus. Join us on December 5 to experience the most thrilling esports event of the year.
