Introducing the Fraxion X: The New Aero Road Bike

Origine introduces the Fraxion X, a new aerodynamic road bike built around a completely redesigned frame, an integrated cockpit, and two grades of carbon. The brand highlights an aerodynamic gain of 15 watts at 40 km/h and a frame weight of 875 g.

Origine Fraxion X

The development of the Fraxion X relied on CFD simulations, finite element analyses, numerous prototypes, and road tests with professional cyclists. Origine reports, in particular, an 11% increase in stiffness at the head tube and a 16% increase at the bottom bracket, as well as a 5% reduction in frame weight despite larger aerodynamic profiles.

According to data provided by the brand, the new frame also delivers an aerodynamic gain of 15 watts at 40 km/h. Origine states that it has focused on the bike’s handling during acceleration and changes in pace, as well as on stability and steering precision.

A Frame Designed as a Complete Unit

The Fraxion X features a new integrated cockpit, called the AeroFlow Cockpit, developed in tandem with the frame and fork. The head tube features a deeper profile designed to improve airflow, while the fork incorporates wider and deeper profiles. Its increased spacing is specifically intended to minimize turbulence around the front wheel and the rider’s legs.

At the rear, the seat tube hugs the wheel more closely to promote continuous airflow. The seat stays are lowered and shortened to improve power transfer, while also contributing to aerodynamic performance and vibration damping. The new Prymahl seatpost also features a Kammtail-style profile.

The frame also features new carbon layups, with fiber distribution tailored to the bike’s different zones. The stated goal is to achieve greater stiffness around the bottom bracket and head tube, while maintaining some vertical vibration damping at the rear.

Three Levels of Carbon

The Fraxion X is available with two types of carbon fiber: Core and Lite. Both versions share the same frame design and aerodynamic characteristics, but the Lite version is said to save approximately 150 g on the frame kit. It is also touted as being more responsive during accelerations.

At the top of the lineup, the RR version adds various lightweight components, including a ceramic bottom bracket, titanium hardware, ultralight axles, and optimized clamping components. In a configuration featuring SRAM Red AXS and DT Swiss ARC 1100, Origine reports a weight of 6.60 kg. This RR version will be used by the professional teams sponsored by the brand in 2027.

The bare frame is listed at 875 g. It accommodates tires up to 32 mm, double-chainring setups ranging from 46/33 to 56/44, and single-chainring setups with 44 to 56 teeth. It is also UDH-compatible and available in six sizes, from XS to XL.

A Redesigned Integration Down to the Last Detail

Origine has also modified several peripheral components. The Shimano Di2 battery is housed in the down tube, which allows for a slimmer seatpost. The frame features a steering lock that limits rotation to 140°, as well as an integrated seat clamp.

A chain-suck guard is also included to minimize the risk of carbon damage in the event of a derailment under heavy load. The Fraxion X remains compatible with both electronic and mechanical drivetrains.

A Customizable Bike

Like the brand’s other models, the Fraxion X is available through the Origine configurator. Customers can choose the carbon grade, as well as the wheels, drivetrain, tires, saddle, handlebar and stem, and finish.

Prices start at €3,900 and can reach €11,500 depending on the configuration. For example, a Fraxion X equipped with Lite carbon, a SRAM Red AXS groupset, and 55-mm DT Swiss ARC 1100 wheels is priced at €9,980 and weighs 6.69 kg. A version equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and Prymahl Orion C48 X wheels is priced at €9,260 and weighs 6.85 kg.

The Fraxion X is UCI-approved and is set to make its debut on the professional circuit in 2027 in its RR version.
