Domane+ SL: Trek’s Lightest and Longest-Lasting E-Bike

Trek unveils the new Domane+ SL, its lightest e-road bike with the longest range the brand has ever offered. Some models weigh as little as 11.1 kg, while the range can reach 185 km with the optional battery.

Trek is updating its line of electric road bikes with the Domane+ SL. Based on the carbon Domane, this new model aims to retain the handling of a classic road bike while providing discreet and quiet electric assistance.

With a claimed weight starting at 11.1 kg, the Domane+ SL becomes the lightest e-bike ever produced by Trek. This achievement is largely due to a 500 Series OCLV carbon frame and the new TQ HPR40 electric system, which is more compact and lighter than previous generations.

A Discreet TQ HPR40 Motor

The TQ HPR40 motor is integrated into the frame to preserve the aesthetics and riding feel of a traditional road bike. Trek also highlights its quiet operation and assistance up to 45 km/h (depending on regulations in the relevant markets).

The system can be customized via the Trek Central app, including adjusting power output and assistance levels up to 200%.

Up to 185 km of range

The Domane+ SL also boasts the longest range in Trek’s electric lineup. The standard 360 Wh battery is said to provide a range of up to approximately 113 km, while a 580 Wh battery—available through the Project One customization program—extends the claimed range to 185 km.

As always with this type of data, actual range depends on factors such as the rider’s weight, elevation gain, speed, weather conditions, and the selected level of assistance.

A Domane Designed for Long Rides

The Domane+ SL embodies the Domane philosophy with Road Endurance geometry, designed to provide a stable and comfortable riding position over long distances. The frame accommodates tires up to 40 mm wide, making it suitable for rough roads, mixed-terrain routes, and light gravel riding.

Trek has also included a seatpost designed to filter out vibrations, as well as mounts for installing panniers and fenders. Integrated lighting rounds out the equipment for long rides or low-light conditions.

The Domane+ SL is available through the Project One customization program, which allows you to choose the paint finish, components, and battery capacity.
