Following a particularly successful 2026 season at the highest level, Specialized is celebrating the achievements of its S-Works bikes with an exclusive collection called “Built for Legends.” The Tarmac SL9, Epic 9, Crux 5, and Demo 11 feature a special finish for the occasion, while the Ares 2 and Evade 4 round out this limited edition series.

In 2026, Specialized positioned new S-Works models at the top of its lineup across four major disciplines: road, XC, DH, and gravel. This is a way for the American brand to highlight its competitive expertise—but above all, the results achieved this season.
At the 2026 Tour de France, the new Tarmac SL9 won four stages, both in sprints with Tim Merlier and in mountain stages with Remco Evenepoel. At the Tour de France Femmes, riders on the Tarmac racked up six victories in nine stages, including three wins and the overall classification for Demi Vollering, two wins and the green jersey for Lorena Vibes, and another victory for Kim Le Court.
In cross-country mountain biking, the Epic 9 has already secured four victories in the 2026 World Cup, in both XCO and XCC.
Finally, the Crux 5 delivered a standout performance at Unbound 2026, securing a one-two-three finish on the men’s podium, as well as a one-two finish in the women’s race.
An Exclusive Red Finish
To celebrate these results, Specialized is introducing the Built for Legends LTD collection, featuring a particularly intricate red finish. The paint combines a red hue with a silver base, with variations ranging from a deep red in low light to a brighter metallic effect in sunlight.
Each frame also features hand-applied black ink, while dark gradients along the edges accentuate the contours. Specialized notes that no two bikes are exactly alike.
The finish is complemented by several distinctive details, including red brake calipers and black components, to reinforce the racing identity of this series.
Extremely Rare Bikes
The collection is characterized above all by its very limited production runs. Only 199 numbered units of the S-Works Tarmac SL9 Built for Legends LTD will be produced worldwide. The Epic 9 will be even rarer, with 119 units, compared to 55 for the Crux 5 and just 50 for the Demo 11.
Specialized is also offering a version of this finish on the brand’s high-end shoes and accessories, including the S-Works Ares 2 and S-Works Evade 4.

The prices naturally place these models among the most exclusive bikes in the Specialized lineup:

With only a few dozen or a few hundred units available, depending on the model, Specialized is clearly banking on exclusivity. The brand makes its intentions clear: once these bikes are sold out, this collection will not be reissued.
