With less than a month to go before the start, VentouxMan is gearing up for its 11th edition. Following a record-breaking anniversary edition, the event returns on September 19 and 20, starting and finishing in Monteux, on the shores of the town’s lake.

Nearly 1,500 athletes are expected to participate in this event, which has become a must-attend on the regional calendar. Seven race formats are offered to allow triathletes of all skill levels to participate.

Seven formats on the program

The weekend will kick off with several races tailored to different participant profiles: long-distance (L) triathlon (individual or relay), long-distance (L) duathlon (individual), gravel triathlon (M), short-distance (S) triathlon (individual or relay), and a 10-km road race.

Registration remains open for all races.

Mont Ventoux: The Ultimate Test

The main challenge of the VentouxMan is, of course, the ascent of Mont Ventoux via Bédoin, which is part of the long-distance triathlon course. This legendary stretch takes competitors to the summit of the “Giant of Provence” after passing through the iconic landscapes of the Vaucluse.

The bike course also offers a chance to explore the region’s vineyards and villages, including stops in Mazan, Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols, Bédoin, Aubignan, Carpentras, and Pernes-les-Fontaines.

An event deeply rooted in the region

Created in 2015 by Charles Doussot and Jean-François Ribet, the VentouxMan aimed to offer a long-distance triathlon in an exceptional setting, with Mont Ventoux as the central challenge and a course winding through the vineyards and typical villages of the Vaucluse.

Over the course of ten editions, the event has seen victories by triathletes such as Marcel Zamora, William Mennesson, Scott Defilippis, and Carrie Lester, as well as Jeanne Collonges, to whom the organizers pay tribute.

After eight editions held on a point-to-point course—first starting from Lake Piolenc and then from Lake Girardes in Lapalud—the organizers took a break in 2023 to rethink the event. Since 2024, the VentouxMan has been held in Monteux, featuring a looped bike course designed to streamline organization and simplify logistics for participants and their support teams.

AOC Ventoux Joins the Adventure

The 2026 edition also marks the arrival of a new partner: the Ventoux AOC. The partnership makes perfect sense, as the cycling course of the L Triathlon passes through several towns at the heart of this appellation, which spans nearly 5,000 hectares.

With 114 private wineries and 15 cooperative wineries, the Ventoux AOC benefits in particular from the climatic influence of Mont Ventoux, which rises to 1,912 meters. The region, located in the heart of a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve, produces red, white, and rosé wines characterized in particular by their freshness and aromatic diversity.

The VentouxMan aims to highlight a local heritage that extends far beyond the realm of sports, inviting participants and spectators to discover the vineyards and landscapes traversed by the various races.

200 Volunteers Mobilized

As is the case every year, the event’s success will also depend on the support of volunteers. Approximately 200 volunteers will be on hand throughout the weekend to welcome participants, manage aid stations, assist competitors, and ensure safety along the various courses.

The volunteer program remains open to anyone who wishes to participate in the event from the inside, whether for a one-time assignment or for the entire weekend.

Supported in particular by the town of Monteux, Lake Monteux, the Vaucluse department, Portes du Ventoux Tourisme, and AOC Ventoux wines, as well as by Finishers, Orca, and Le French Cyclard, the VentouxMan invites triathletes to join us on September 19 and 20 for a new edition celebrating both sports and the local region.
