From Thursday, August 20, to Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Tour de l’Avenir returns for a thoroughly revamped 62nd edition. Considered the true Tour de France for riders under 23, this must-see event for future international cycling champions is adopting a new format this year, with participation now open to the development teams of WorldTour squads. After an unprecedented start in Normandy, at Ouistreham Riva-Bella, the young riders will cross France before heading to the Alps, then on to Italy, for a final high-mountain showdown at Lago Serrù. In total, seven particularly varied stages await the contenders for the general classification, with finishes in Argentan, Amboise, Saint-Vallier, and Semur-en-Auxois, before the major Alpine stages at Les Carroz-Flaine and the summit of the Col de l’Iseran, followed by the final Italian stage between Strambino and Ceresole Reale. Once again, the Tour de l’Avenir should provide an opportunity to discover the riders destined to become the big names of the professional peloton in the coming years, in a race where individual performance, climbing ability, and the ability to manage a demanding course will be decisive.
