BikingMan AURA 2026: An Edition Marked by Several Firsts

The BikingMan AURA 2026 once again delivered a spectacular event on the roads of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Starting in Albertville, participants had their choice between two demanding routes: a 500-km route with 11,000 m of elevation gain, or a 1,000-km challenge with 19,000 m of elevation gain, traversing some of the most beautiful Alpine passes.

This edition will go down in the annals of ultracycling with a historic first: Christophe Charrade and David Marchaud became the first duo to win the overall classification of a BikingMan event in the 1,000-km format. The two riders from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes completed their adventure in 54 hours and 28 minutes, illustrating the evolution of the sport and the growing popularity of the team format.

On the 500-km course, Grégory Cassini, the 2024 BikingMan world champion, won in 22 hours and 11 minutes after a race contested at a fast pace. He finished ahead of Thomas Lombard, who came in second in 23 hours and 52 minutes. At just 19 years old, Lombard confirms the emergence of a new generation of ultracyclists capable of competing with the best.

Rounding out the podium is Nathalie Baillon, third overall and the top woman, with a time of 24 hours and 11 minutes. This performance underscores the rising standard of women’s ultracycling in the most demanding events.

Beyond the results, the 2026 edition once again highlighted the unique qualities of ultracycling: endurance, effort management, strategy, sleep, and nutrition—all crucial elements for conquering these extreme courses.
