This year, competitors will pass through several iconic sites in the region, including the Semnoz, the Grand Colombier, the Pas de Peyrol, the Ardèche Mountains, and a spectacular crossing of the Chartreuse Massif.

With nearly 19,000 meters of elevation gain, the route primarily follows secondary roads, offering an immersion in authentic rural France, far from major highways. Participants will ride completely independently, either solo or in pairs, while a GPS tracking system will allow their progress to be monitored live throughout the race.

Two formats to experience the adventure

To cater to different types of cyclists, the BikingMan Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes offers two routes:

  • 1,000 km Road Route: BikingMan’s flagship event with 19,000 m of elevation gain. Participants have 120 hours to complete the course.
  • New for 2026 / Route Half (500 km): a inaugural edition designed to introduce participants to the world of ultracycling. This loop through Savoie and Haute-Savoie must be completed within 60 hours.

“An extraordinary human adventure”

Axel Carion, founder of BikingMan, explains: “In just a few years, the BikingMan AURA has become a popular event among adventurers seeking a challenge that combines pushing one’s limits, discovering France’s roads in a new way, and immersing oneself in the region with complete self-sufficiency. This round-trip journey between Savoie and Cantal promises plenty of thrills, set against the majestic backdrop of the Massif Central.”
