The International Cycling Union (UCI) and the MyWhoosh platform have unveiled the qualification criteria and schedule for the 2026 UCI Esports Cycling World Championships. As in 2025, the qualification system combines selections by national federations with an open pathway via the MyWhoosh platform, allowing the world’s best virtual cyclists to earn their spots.
Approximately 100 men and 100 women will advance to the semifinals based on the quotas allocated to their national federations. These quotas, ranging from three to ten riders, are calculated based on results from the last two editions of the UCI Esports Cycling World Championships. Federations without a quota may nevertheless enter up to two athletes, provided they meet the performance criteria defined by MyWhoosh.
A second qualification pathway will be available through the MyWhoosh Sunday Race Club Elite races, held on the first two Sundays in September. Approximately 30 men and 30 women will thus be able to secure their spots in the semifinals. Riders who qualify through this route will be added to their national federation’s roster without affecting the allocated quotas.
Federations will have until August 31 to confirm their selections, while the final list of semifinal participants will be finalized on September 4. The 2025 UCI Esports World Champions, meanwhile, will qualify automatically.
The semifinals, held entirely online, will bring together approximately 260 athletes on October 2. The top finishers in each category will then advance to the world final on December 12, which will be held live at two separate venues in Europe and North America. Up to three “wild cards” per category may also be awarded by the UCI.
As the exclusive partner of the UCI Esports Cycling World Championships for the 2024–2026 period, MyWhoosh is responsible for the event’s entire organization, from course development and technical production to hosting the live finals.
