Strava is ramping up its community efforts with a new space dedicated to events

The fitness app is expanding its ecosystem with a new Events tab and a redesign of its tools for clubs. The goal: to make it easier for members to connect, promote local initiatives, and turn Strava into a true hub for active people.

Strava is continuing its transformation into a community platform. The app, which claims more than 195 million users in over 185 countries, is rolling out a new set of features designed to bring its members closer together, both within the app and out in the field.

The main new feature is the addition of an Events tab, integrated into the Groups section. This tab makes it easier for users to discover organized activities in their area—whether group rides, club events, or sports gatherings—thanks to recommendations based on their location and activity habits.

A single entry point for events

With this new interface, Strava aims to simplify the discovery of local events and encourage connections between members who share the same interests. Users can browse upcoming events and filter them by various criteria, including date, location, or activity type.

The platform also integrates, for the first time, Runna’s event database. This gives users access to a catalog of thousands of international events directly from Strava, with the option to enhance their preparation using the training plans offered by Runna.

Clubs at the Heart of the Strategy

At the same time, Strava is updating its Club Organizer Hub, the space dedicated to club leaders. Available on the web, this new version brings together more resources and tools to help organizers create, manage, and engage their communities.

This update is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening interactions between users and making clubs a cornerstone of the Strava experience.

Beyond fitness tracking

Long known as a performance-tracking app, Strava continues to broaden its scope. After developing its social features in recent years, the platform now aims to make it easier to discover local activities and foster connections among its members, regardless of their sport.

With these new features, Strava reaffirms its ambition to become a true social network for outdoor activities, where the community is just as important as performance data.
