Two Routes Between the Lake and the Peaks

Organized by the association Les Pros du Savinois, with support from the Union Cycliste du Pays Gapençais, this inaugural edition is designed for both experienced cyclists and those looking to take on a challenge at the end of the season.

Two formats will be offered:

  • 100 km – 2,000 m of elevation gain, in a timed format, intended for experienced cyclists;
  • 75 km – 1,500 m of elevation gain, available as a timed race or a leisure ride, with electric-assist bikes permitted in the leisure ride category.

The routes will take place on open roads, with specific signage and support provided by the organizers.

A route designed to showcase the region

Beyond the sporting aspect, La Serre-Ponçon capitalizes on its exceptional natural setting. Participants will ride along scenic roads overlooking Lake Serre-Ponçon, passing through Sauze-du-Lac, the dam, the Lebraut Pass, Chorges, and Saint-Apollinaire.

The long route will take the adventure all the way to the Blanche Valley and the Monges Massif, offering a varied itinerary that alternates between climbs, scenic roads, and panoramic views of the lake’s turquoise waters.

The stated goal is to make the tour around the lake a true cyclosportive experience, where performance and the joy of riding combine with the discovery of alpine landscapes.

An event aiming to become a long-standing tradition

The heart of the event will be located in the parking lot at La Voilerie Beach in Savines-le-Lac. The start and finish lines will be set up there, alongside an exhibitor village, a food court, and several activities for accompanying guests.

Through this inaugural edition, the organizers hope to create a new must-attend cycling event in the Southern Alps and establish La Serre-Ponçon as a destination event capable of attracting cyclists looking to enjoy a weekend of sports around the lake.

Deeply rooted in the local community, the race is supported by local business owners and professionals from the Savinois region, who have come together under the association Les Pros du Savinois. This local initiative is part of a region already renowned for its wide range of cycling options, including road, gravel, mountain biking, and touring.
