This extension reaffirms a partnership focused on innovation and the pursuit of performance, with product development directly informed by feedback from riders competing at the highest level of global cycling.

A Real-World Laboratory for Innovation

As part of this agreement, Giro will continue to provide the entire Team Visma | Lease a Bike roster with its top-performing helmets, including the Eclipse Pro Spherical, Aries Spherical, Aerohead, and Aerohead II.

The Eclipse Pro Spherical is designed for road races where aerodynamics are paramount. It combines excellent air penetration, optimized ventilation, and a high level of comfort.

The Aries Spherical, which is lighter and exceptionally well-ventilated, is designed for mountain stages and races held in hot weather.

Finally, the Aerohead and Aerohead II embody Giro’s expertise in time trials. Developed through countless hours in the wind tunnel, they are designed to deliver maximum aerodynamic advantage.

The Aerohead II: Development Taken to the Extreme

The development of the Aerohead II perfectly illustrates the collaborative approach between Giro and Team Visma | Lease a Bike.

The brand’s engineers conducted numerous wind tunnel tests with Wout van Aert and Jonas Vingegaard, while also creating full-scale 3D models of each rider in their time trial position.

Combined with extensive road testing, this work optimized the aerodynamics of the rider-and-helmet system, resulting in the final design of the Aerohead II. The 3D prints of the two champions are still on display at Giro’s headquarters, serving as a testament to this development process.

Top-tier racing results

Since the start of their partnership in 2024, Giro and Team Visma | Lease a Bike have been part of several major successes in international cycling, including Wout van Aert’s victory at Paris–Roubaix, Jonas Vingegaard’s victory in the general classification of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot’s overall victory at the 2025 Tour de France Femmes with Zwift.

Beyond the results, feedback from the athletes allows Giro to gather valuable data under race conditions and accelerate the development of its future equipment.

Reactions

Emily Watts, Global Director of Sports Marketing at Giro, emphasizes that both partners share a philosophy rooted in a constant pursuit of performance. “Extending this partnership allows us to continue testing and developing our products in the most demanding competitive environments. The insights we gain from the world’s best riders directly fuel our ability to innovate and ultimately benefit all cyclists.”

For Ash Lewin, senior industrial designer at Giro, this collaboration is a true driver of innovation. “Working with Team Visma | Lease a Bike pushes us to constantly rethink performance by increasingly integrating the helmet into the overall system formed by the rider and their equipment. The next three years will offer a tremendous testing ground.”

On the team’s side, Jasper Saeijs, commercial director of Team Visma | Lease a Bike, emphasizes the importance of this relationship. “Our partnership with Giro is based on a shared commitment to continuous improvement. The Aerohead II is the perfect example of this. At the highest level, details often make the difference, and being able to count on a partner capable of developing the best products is a real competitive advantage.”
