New Giant and Liv gravel bikes: lighter, stiffer, and more aerodynamic

Giant and Liv are expanding their gravel lineup with the new Revolt Advanced SL and Devote Advanced SL, two models that have been completely redesigned for competition. Lighter, stiffer, and featuring aerodynamic design unprecedented in this segment, these models mark a significant evolution in the two brands’ high-performance gravel offerings.

For the first time, the Revolt and Devote lines feature Advanced SL carbon frames and forks—the highest-end construction level developed by Giant. The goal is clear: to improve the stiffness-to-weight ratio in order to meet the growing demands of gravel racing.

The Giant Revolt Advanced SL is 176 g lighter in the frame set and 288 g lighter as a complete bike compared to the Revolt Advanced Pro. The bike weighs in at 6.9 kg in size M.

For its part, the Liv Devote Advanced SL saves 185 g on the frame set and 297 g on the entire bike, for a claimed weight of 6.85 kg.

Significant gains in stiffness

Beyond the weight reduction, Giant reports a marked increase in stiffness. The Revolt Advanced SL gains 22.7% in pedaling stiffness and 35.2% in steering stiffness, while the Devote Advanced SL improves by 17.7% and 26.7%, respectively.

The geometry has also evolved, with a more performance-oriented riding position thanks to a lower front end (reduced stack height). Both models remain compatible with tires up to 53 mm wide, ensuring great versatility on the most demanding terrain.

Aerodynamics-Focused Development

To tackle gravel races contested at speeds between 30 and 45 km/h, Giant now applies its AeroSystem Shaping technology to the entire bike. The frame, fork, wheels, and cockpit have been developed as a single system to optimize aerodynamic performance.

According to wind tunnel tests, the Revolt Advanced SL reduces drag by 15.96 watts and total resistance (drag and rolling resistance) by 18.99 watts.

The Devote Advanced SL, meanwhile, delivers a 17-watt reduction in aerodynamic drag and a 20.03-watt reduction in total resistance.

New components designed for gravel racing

Both platforms also introduce several components developed specifically for competition. The new Giant Contact SLR XR monoblock cockpit, weighing just 295 g, is designed to reduce turbulence while improving the stiffness of the cockpit.

The high-end versions feature the new CADEX Max GXR wheels with 50 mm rims paired with 45 mm CADEX GXR tires—a combination designed to maximize performance, stability, and aerodynamic efficiency.

The Advanced SL 1 and SL 2 models are equipped with the new Giant CXR 0 wheels, featuring carbon spokes and a rim directly derived from CADEX developments.
