Zipp is expanding its S line with an all-new carbon road wheel: the 404 S. Inspired by technologies developed for the American brand’s high-end models, this new product aims to deliver advanced aerodynamic performance at a more affordable price.

Positioned above the popular 303 S, the new 404 S features a 50 mm-high rim with a profile directly derived from the Firecrest design used at the highest levels of professional cycling. The goal is clear: to maximize speed while maintaining excellent stability in crosswinds.

A claimed aerodynamic gain of 2 watts
According to Zipp, the 404 S offers a savings of approximately 2 watts compared to the 303 S thanks to its more aerodynamic profile. The brand also claims that its performance rivals that of certain competing wheels sold for up to twice the price.
This new model now rounds out Zipp’s S collection, which covers the main cycling disciplines with the 404 S for road, the 303 XPLR S for gravel, and the 1ZERO HITOP S for cross-country.

A design tailored for modern tires
The 404 S features an internal width of 23 mm (without spokes) compatible with tires ranging from 28 to 39 mm. This design is part of Zipp’s Total System Efficiency (TSE) approach, which prioritizes lower tire pressures to reduce rolling resistance and improve comfort and bike control on a variety of surfaces. The maximum recommended pressure is 5.0 bars (73 psi), depending on the tire width used.

76/176 Hubs and Lightweight Design
The build features a 20-spoke front wheel and a 24-spoke rear wheel, laced with Sapim CX-Sprint spokes in a two-cross pattern. The set is paired with Zipp 76/176 hubs featuring 36 engagement points to ensure rapid power transfer.

The stated weight of the wheel set is 1,585 g.
Two graphic designs available
You can choose between two graphic designs: a version with white logos inspired by professional peloton bikes, and a dark gray version for a more understated and classic look.
Like all of the brand’s carbon wheels, the 404 S comes with Zipp’s lifetime warranty as well as the accident replacement program.
