Canyon is unveiling a major update to its Aeroad CFR, its flagship road bike, which now achieves 198 watts of drag in wind tunnel testing according to independent tests by TOUR magazine. This update comes just before the Tour de France and reinforces the model’s position among the most aerodynamic bikes in the professional peloton.

The main improvement is the new CP0053 RACE cockpit, designed to enhance both aerodynamics and stiffness. Compared to the previous generation, it offers:
- better power transfer during sprints thanks to increased stiffness
- a weight reduction of approximately 120 g
- a reduction in aerodynamic drag of up to 2 watts in the wind tunnel
- up to a 25-watt gain in real-world conditions, according to the manufacturer’s estimates
This cockpit also allows for a more compact riding position, optimizing aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining control on descents.

198 watts in the wind tunnel: a new performance benchmark
Tests conducted by TOUR Magazine in a wind tunnel at 45 km/h show that the updated version of the Aeroad CFR achieves 198 watts of drag, a level considered a benchmark for a modern road bike.
This performance is largely due to a reduction in frontal area and an overall optimization of the cockpit.
Compatibility and Modularity
Canyon is also introducing several technical upgrades:
- the adoption of a UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) for greater future compatibility
- new seatpost and wheel options through the MyCanyon customization program
- the CP0053 cockpit, which is also compatible as an aftermarket option on several of the brand’s models
The goal is to make the platform more scalable and adaptable to future drivetrains and industry standards.

Advanced Customization
The MyCanyon program now allows you to configure more bike components, including:
- seatposts with different levels of comfort and setback
- high-end carbon wheels from specialized partners
- a selection of handlebars suited to different riding styles
These options are also available on select CF SLX models.
Availability
The new Aeroad CFR and CFR LTD models will be available starting June 25, 2026, exclusively through the Canyon website and app, with several new customization options and colorways.
With this update, Canyon aims to solidify the Aeroad CFR’s position as one of the fastest bikes in the pro peloton. The focus is on aerodynamics, modularity, and the integration of solutions previously reserved for pro teams.
