At the midpoint of the season, the National Cycling League has issued a very positive initial assessment of the FDJ United Series, the new circuit that has replaced the FDJ French Cup. Launched in December 2025 in partnership with FDJ UNITED, this competition brings together 14 French professional races and aims to modernize, simplify, and boost the visibility of road cycling in France.

A Shared and Modernized TV Production
At the heart of the initiative, the LNC has thoroughly reimagined the audiovisual production of the races. Since 2025, a competitive bidding process has resulted in the broadcasting rights for the 14 races being awarded to a single service provider, Vision Live. This decision reduces costs for organizers, ensures consistent image quality, and allows for the shared use of technical resources.
A major innovation: the adoption of 4G/5G transmission, which replaces traditional HF solutions requiring a relay aircraft. This advancement simplifies production, reduces environmental impact, and improves operational flexibility.
Enhanced national and international broadcast coverage
The LNC has also structured its broadcast schedule around a more user-friendly format. In France, the races are now broadcast on NOVO19, the Ouest-France group’s DTT channel, offering free and consistent coverage throughout the season.
Internationally, Eurosport provides broadcasts via its platforms, notably HBO Max, with extensive coverage in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and certain parts of the Asia-Pacific region. This strategy meets the standards of the International Cycling Union and enhances the global reach of French cycling.
Strong viewership from the very first season
Initial results confirm the effectiveness of the approach:
- an average of 400,000 to 500,000 viewers on weekdays,
- more than 1 million cumulative viewers on some weekends,
- despite competition from other major races broadcast on traditional sports channels.
These results confirm the gradual establishment of a recognized event for cycling fans.
A rapidly expanding editorial and digital strategy
Beyond live broadcasts, the LNC and NOVO19 are developing an editorial ecosystem centered around the races. The web series “Course Toujours,” streamed on social media and partner platforms, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the peloton. It has already generated tens of thousands of views, supplemented by more than 100,000 additional reads via partner media outlets.
This approach strengthens the bond between fans, riders, and teams, while expanding the audience beyond just television viewers.
A model seen as pivotal for the ecosystem
For the LNC, this new organizational structure addresses a key challenge in modern cycling: controlling production costs and enhancing the media profile of races. Organizers also highlight the benefits of the transition to 4G/5G, which simplifies technical setups while improving image quality.
As the LNC leadership summarizes, this strategy makes it possible to modernize French cycling, create a stable TV schedule, and enhance the long-term appeal of the races.
At the midpoint of the season, the FDJ United Series appears to be a success for the LNC: a clearer calendar, rising viewership, shared production, and expanded broadcast reach. This model is gradually establishing itself as a new benchmark for the coverage and promotion of professional cycling in France.
