This concept combines 360° sensors, radar, cameras, and on-board AI (Edge AI) to analyze the cyclist’s surroundings in real time. The goal is no longer simply to react to hazards, but to anticipate them before they are even perceived: the trajectories of other road users, road conditions, group dynamics, and the risk of falls are continuously assessed.

The system also includes a display integrated into the handlebars, visual and haptic alerts, and a connection to a smart helmet with augmented reality data display. In critical situations, the bike can even assist the rider through mechanical interventions, such as automatically adjusting the seatpost to improve stability.

Canyon emphasizes local data processing (without the cloud) to reduce latency and protect privacy. The stated goal is to move from “reactive” safety to “predictive” safety, inspired by advancements already seen in the automotive industry.

According to the designers, this type of technology could reduce accidents by improving the cyclist’s overall situational awareness and optimizing their real-time decision-making. The project is currently still in the prototype stage, but Canyon mentions the possibility of future integration into mass-produced bikes.
