Castelli Unveils the PR 3 Speed Suit Triathlon Wetsuit

Castelli introduces the next generation of its high-end triathlon suit, the PR 3 Speed Suit, a suit designed for competition performance in non-drafting middle- and long-distance races. An evolution designed for speed and elite competition.

Developed after more than a decade of aerodynamic research and field testing, the PR 3 Speed Suit aims to combine aerodynamic efficiency, thermoregulation, and long-distance comfort. The suit has been validated in wind tunnels and under real-world conditions with several professional triathletes, including Laura Philipp, Paula Findlay, and Rico Bogen.

In-Depth Work on Aerodynamics

At the heart of this new suit, Castelli introduces a completely redesigned construction featuring sleeves made of technical ribbed fabric, designed to reduce drag at high speeds. Every seam and every panel has been optimized to improve performance in specific triathlon positions.

Ultralight Materials and Thermal Management

The upper section is made from a 50-denier fabric, billed as the thinnest ever used by the brand for a speed suit. The goal: to maximize ventilation without compromising aerodynamics.

The lower section features a stretch fabric inspired by the Premio Evo cycling shorts, providing targeted muscle support and reducing friction over long distances.

Features Designed for Racing

The PR 3 Speed Suit incorporates several features designed for competition use:

a rear pocket optimized to minimize air disturbance
a discreet and easily accessible GPS pocket
a neck-level ice pocket for thermal management
a KISS Tri Pad chamois insert designed for comfort on the bike and during the transition to running

The collection is rounded out by aerodynamic leg sleeves

Castelli is also launching the PR leg sleeves, designed to reduce air resistance while cycling. They are designed for a snug fit around the calf, with a stretch panel that makes them easy to put on and take off.

Brand Statement

Bernhard Plainer, director of Castelli’s triathlon division, highlights the brand’s ongoing innovation since its debut in modern triathlon, noting in particular its role since the launch of its first short-sleeve race jersey in Kona in 2013.

According to him, the PR 3 Speed Suit represents the culmination of R&D work based on feedback from top athletes and intensive testing in real-world conditions.
