MyWhoosh relaunches its 2026 championships with $1 million in prize money

The virtual cycling platform MyWhoosh has officially announced the return of the MyWhoosh Championships in July 2026. Following two successful editions, the event will retain its seven-day Tour format, contested entirely on stationary bikes, with a total prize pool of one million dollars divided equally between the men’s and women’s categories.

The championship will once again be based on an overall general classification based on cumulative time. Participants will have to complete seven stages in one week, with new routes but an overall volume similar to that of the 2025 edition in terms of distance and elevation gain.

According to Matt Smithson, director of esports and gaming operations at MyWhoosh, the goal is to offer enthusiasts an experience similar to that of professional cyclists in a stage race. He particularly highlights the collaborative nature and immersive aspect of this week-long competition, which is characterized by fatigue management, tactical decisions, and a sense of community among participants.

A Community Experience at the Heart of the Project

Unlike traditional e-cycling formats, which often focus on short, intense races, the MyWhoosh Championships emphasize endurance and consistency. The event aims to recreate the sensations of a real Tour, with a series of stages and the gradual physical wear and tear on the riders.

In 2025, riders from 47 countries participated in the event, covering a total of more than 200,000 km and logging over 6,000 hours of virtual racing. For the 2026 edition, MyWhoosh aims to double the number of participants and make the event the largest virtual amateur Tour ever organized.

A $1 million prize pool and rewards for all finishers

The $1 million prize pool will be distributed across six distinct competition categories, with awards given for the general classification, the sprint classification, and the mountain classification (KOM/QOM).

In addition to the prizes, every participant who completes all seven stages will also receive a MyWhoosh gift box worth over $700, regardless of their race results.

The Power Passport Remains Mandatory

To ensure fairness among the thousands of expected participants, riders must validate the “Power Passport,” the performance verification system implemented by MyWhoosh. This procedure, already used in Sunday Race Club competitions, verifies the consistency of participants’ power data.

The platform also notes that the championships will remain subject to its integrity and anti-doping program, designed to strengthen the credibility of high-level esports competitions.
