Mavic unveils the COMETE 50, a carbon wheel designed to offer a complete aerodynamic advantage on all terrains. With its 50 mm rim depth and 23 mm internal width, it promises a perfect balance between air penetration, stability, and comfort, even when side gusts join the party.

Its profiled carbon spokes, combined with geometry optimized in a wind tunnel in Geneva, guarantee measurable efficiency in varied conditions. The new Mavic ceramic bearings drastically reduce friction, improving efficiency and power transmission, especially at high speeds.

At only 1315 g per pair, the COMETE 50 plays in the league of lightweight wheels without sacrificing stiffness or precision. It accelerates instantly, remains unperturbed on descents, and maintains appreciable comfort over long distances. More than an aero wheel, it’s a versatile solution, capable of shining on the flats as well as on climbs, from sustained tempo to the most aggressive sprints.

Over a 50 km course, Mavic announces up to 12 seconds gained, a concrete advantage for time trial hunters. The Adaptive Layup structure, combining T700, T1000, and 3K fibers, offers an ideal balance between stiffness, handling, and dynamism. The 21 carbon spokes per wheel—14 crossed for power, 7 radial for balance—ensure precise behavior and perfectly controlled tension. The spokes also absorb vibrations, improving comfort and stability.
Each component undergoes 57 internal tests, then a second validation once the wheel is assembled. Mavic has redesigned the mechanical core: 40-tooth pawls, optimized spring, ceramic bearings, lightened hub, and the Locked‑In system to stabilize tension. The result: a coherent, stable, and ultra-reliable mechanical platform.

The COMETE 50 has already proven itself under the strong pulls of Thomas De Gendt, and now rolls under the colors of St Michel – Auber93. In the wind tunnel, it consistently ranks among the best, with measured watt gains.
In endurance, it withstands extreme cycles equivalent to 700,000 km of terrain. Its profile has been optimized to reduce drag, stabilize the wheel in crosswinds, and maximize control at high speeds. Carbon spokes reduce rotational drag by 18% compared to classic flat spokes. Ceramic bearings ensure lasting fluidity, ride after ride.

Each wheel is hand-assembled in Mavic’s Chavanod laboratory, in the heart of the Alps. The COMETE 50 is tubeless compatible, for tires from 28 to 65 mm, and available in Center Lock. Weight: 600 g front, 715 g rear.
A wheel designed to last, perform, and push the limits of the modern cyclist.
