New Portal® x MET Trade Winds Helmet

Some limited editions go beyond being mere products—they become true works of art. Such is the case with the new Portal® x MET Trade Winds helmet, featuring a design created by cyclist, racer, and artist Hugh Scott Douglas.

Designed for rides that vary in pace and weather conditions, this model is based on the MET Trenta Mips, reimagined, ventilated, and tailored for endurance.
An ideal platform for celebrating long days of riding across varied terrain. The “Trade Winds” design explores the dialogue between nature and technology, layering patterns inspired by oceanic movements.

The graphic layers reflect currents, tides, and winds, like a sensory map of the marine world. To create these visuals, Hugh Scott Douglas repurposes logistics software used to track ships at sea. He programs it to generate organic weather images, capturing the shifting essence of the elements. These images are then reworked, recolored, and digitally printed in a style reminiscent of screen printing.

The result: a design that blurs the boundaries between art, data, and sensation. The campaign was shot by Keng Pereira during the Traka in Girona, on the 560-km ultra race. Four riders, four approaches, four ways of tackling the distance. The story extends beyond the finish line: it’s about preparation, mindset, nature, and technology. The helmet is available in an ultra-limited edition of 200 units worldwide.
Available in sizes S, M, and L, priced at €290.
Already available online at portal-brand.com for collectors of high-end gear.
