TDLG Launches Fantasy Cycling Among Friends

TDLG is a fantasy cycling app launched by five friends who are passionate about cycling after spending several years playing the game on Excel. The concept: Before each major race, players assemble a team of eight riders through an auction system with a limited budget. The cyclists’ actual performances then earn points throughout the competitions.

The app takes an accessible, social, and quirky approach to fantasy sports, with “bonuses” that let you mess with your friends in the middle of a virtual competition. Available for free on iOS and Android, TDLG covers nine major cycling races during the 2026 season, including the Giro, the Tour de France, and the Vuelta.

The project claims to be an independent creation, developed without fundraising or investors, using modern tools such as React Native, Supabase, and Claude Code. After an initial MVP season that brought together 300 players in 2025, the team is aiming for more than 1,000 users in 2026.

TDLG aims to make cycling fantasy accessible to everyone with an app designed “for friends”

Fantasy sports continue to gain traction in France, but cycling has so far been largely absent from the mainstream landscape. With TDLG, a new French app aims to fill this gap by offering an accessible, competitive fantasy cycling experience that’s firmly focused on playing with friends.

Launched by five cycling enthusiasts after several years of testing on Excel, TDLG transforms major cycling races into a strategic playground. Before each competition, players must recruit eight riders at auction with a limited budget. The athletes’ actual performances then determine the participants’ rankings.

“We didn’t want to reinvent fantasy sports. We wanted to take the game we were already playing among ourselves and make it even better,” explains Armand Lavenne, co-founder and product designer of the project.

A more fun and social approach to fantasy sports

Unlike sports betting platforms, TDLG emphasizes its cash-free model and lack of algorithmic simulation. Real riders compete in real races, and players follow the stages daily to see how their rankings change.

The app also adds a humorous twist with “bonuses” that let you disrupt your virtual opponents: a flat tire, a “puncture,” or even “drafting.” This mechanic is designed to strengthen the community aspect and foster rivalries among friends.

“Cycling is the perfect sport for fantasy: 21 days of uncertainty, underdogs who come out of nowhere, and constant tactical moves,” says Valens Carpentier, co-founder and developer of the platform.

Nine major races on the 2026 schedule

For its 2026 season, TDLG covers nine major competitions on the international cycling calendar, including:

  • the Giro d’Italia,
  • the Tour de France,
  • the Vuelta a España,
  • the Tour of Catalonia,
  • the Tour of the Basque Country,
  • the Tour de Suisse.

The season kicked off on March 23 with the Tour of Catalonia and will wrap up on September 13 after the Vuelta.

Each race features dedicated editorial content in the app: stage analyses, predictions, rider profiles, and commentary with a deliberately offbeat tone.

An independent, self-funded project

One of the key points highlighted by the team is the project’s complete independence. TDLG was developed without fundraising, without an agency, and without employees.

The app is built on a modern tech stack combining React Native, Supabase, and Claude Code, with a small team of designers, developers, and content creators working part-time.

Available for free on iOS and Android, TDLG now aims to appeal to both cycling enthusiasts and casual gamers looking for a competitive and friendly experience.
