The Basque cooperative Orbea confirmed the strength of its business model in 2025, despite a global bicycle market that remains under pressure. At its Annual General Meeting on May 9, the brand presented results deemed stable, along with a new Impact Plan designed to strengthen its social, industrial, and environmental commitments.

Against a backdrop of overproduction, massive promotions, and eroding margins in the bicycle industry, Orbea states that it has maintained a strategy focused on profitability, protecting product value, and supporting its distribution network. The brand limited the decline in its revenue to 2.3% compared to 2024, while maintaining results close to the average of the past five years.
CEO Daniel Martínez emphasized the cooperative’s commitment to balancing economic performance with long-term responsibility. “We want to build a competitive and profitable company, but one that also benefits people, the local community, and future generations,” he said.
A Committed Cooperative Model
Orbea promotes a model based on creating sustainable value for users, distributors, and its entire ecosystem. The company now views social and environmental impact as an integral part of its development strategy, rather than as a separate initiative.
Over the past five years, the company reports that it has doubled its workforce to more than 1,000 employees, 80% of whom are based in the Basque Country. A significant portion of its profits (nearly 20%) continues to be reinvested in the cooperative’s own solidarity and social action funds.

Product Innovation and Investments for 2026
Despite market tensions, Orbea continues to invest in innovation and infrastructure. In particular, the brand plans to expand its industrial and logistical capabilities while accelerating the development of new technologies and the training of its teams.
The year 2026 is seen as a strategic one for the company, which is preparing several projects aimed at strengthening its brand image and customer experience. Among these is a complete redesign of the official Orbea website, scheduled for May 10, with a stronger focus on bike customization and highlighting the brand’s values.
Orbea will also continue to develop its “Draw the Line” communication platform, launched last year and already recognized with several awards.
New Leadership for the Cooperative
The General Assembly also marked a change in leadership with the election of Nagore Larrabeiti as president of the cooperative. Having been with the company for over twenty years and serving as chief financial officer since 2012, she succeeds Ruben Gabilondo.
The new president praised the work accomplished by her predecessor and reaffirmed her commitment to continuing Orbea’s development based on a cooperative, sustainable, and people-centered vision.
