In Flanders Fields – Ghent–Wevelgem 2026: Course, Entrants, and Favorites

The 88th edition of Ghent–Wevelgem, now renamed “In Flanders Fields—from Middelkerke to Wevelgem,” will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2026. This historic Flemish classic, part of the WorldTour, retains its major role in the Belgian racing calendar—one week before the Tour of Flanders—and attracts both sprinters and specialists in the Flemish hills. The 241-km course blends tradition and athletic challenge with 12 decisive climbs, including the famous Mont Kemmel and the Baneberg. Following Mads Pedersen’s back-to-back victories in 2024 and 2025, the 2026 field promises to be strong, with favorites capable of excelling in both the final stretch and the decisive climbs. Two scenarios seem possible this year: either a lone rider or a small group of favorites manages to shake off the peloton, or the race concludes with a mass sprint involving about 50 riders. With Mathieu Van der Poel in the field, the first scenario seems the most likely, as he could intensify the race on the Kemmelberg and launch the decisive attack. Facing him, Mads Pedersen—a recent two-time winner—remains one to watch but seems less at his best here. Jasper Philipsen could benefit from a smaller sprint, while Wout van Aert, in good form, sees this Ghent–Wevelgem as a good test ahead of the Monuments. Among the outsiders, Filippo Ganna, Arnaud De Lie, the Laporte/Brennan duo, and Paul Magnier could play a key role if conditions and strategies allow. Find details on the course, TV broadcast schedules, and the list of entrants for this 88th edition of Ghent–Wevelgem.
