Team OMCC made a strong impression at the Granfondo Sanremo–Sanremo 2026 by sweeping the entire men’s podium. Nicholas Calipa won ahead of his teammates Alex Worsdale and Massimiliano Barbero Piantino, all three crossing the finish line together in 2 h 46 min 15 s, at an impressive average speed of 36.09 km/h. A resounding hat-trick, complemented by victories in their respective categories.

Lining up with six riders — Federico Borella, Nicholas Calipa, Mattia Magnaldi, Massimiliano Barbero Piantino, Alex Worsdale, and Vanessa Santeliz Bautista — the OMCC team quickly took control of the race. Everything was decided in the first few kilometers when Calipa slipped into a breakaway. Initially alone in the lead at Santa Brigida, he was then joined by Worsdale and Barbero Piantino. The trio remained unchallenged until the finish, collaborating perfectly to widen the gap.
« It was a very good race. We rode together from start to finish, and I want to thank them because they allowed me to win », declared Nicholas Calipa after the finish.
In the women’s race, Vanessa Santeliz Bautista also distinguished herself by taking second place in the general classification in 3 h 26 min 04 s, while also winning her category. For her first race in the team’s colors, she said she was « very happy » with her performance, particularly praising the support of her sports director Mauro Bertello during the climb of the Cipressa.
Held the day after the legendary Milano–Sanremo classic — nicknamed « La Classicissima » — the Granfondo Sanremo–Sanremo follows the iconic roads of the Riviera dei Fiori. The course, laid out between the Lungomare Salvo d’Acquisto and the legendary Poggio, offers a demanding sequence of climbs, including Pantasina, Santa Brigida, Cipressa, and Terzorio.
