The Tour des Alpes-Maritimes 2026 changes format and will be contested over a single day, on Sunday, February 22. The Côte d’Azur event, won in 2025 by Christian Scaroni, abandons its stage race format (two days recently, and even three until 2023 before the creation of the Classic Var) to become a one-day classic. The route, between Villefranche-sur-Mer and Biot, is partly inspired by the itinerary of the previous edition’s second stage. The first half of the course will quickly test the riders with the ascents of the Col d’Èze, the Col de Châteauneuf, and Carros. The remainder of the course promises to be faster and less selective, thus leaving the door open to varied profiles, from offensive climbers to punchers capable of finishing.
