Trek celebrates its 50th anniversary with a limited collection

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Trek Bicycle has unveiled a limited collection of bike models that reflect both the brand’s origins and its goal for the next 50 years: changing the world through bikes.

Founded in 1976 in a Wisconsin barn, Trek began by hand-brazing touring frames designed to rival the best European models. In five decades, this commitment to craftsmanship has evolved into a broader mission focused on expanding access to cycling, promoting sustainability, supporting youth cycling, and designing products that inspire more people to choose two wheels over four. A timeline of the brand’s 50 years, tracing its most significant moments, is available at trekbikes.com/timeline.

The 50th Anniversary Collection consists of three limited-edition bikes available for pre-order for eight weeks: the First 50 Project One ICON, the First 50 Replica, and the No. 76 Project One ICON.

Trek’s Story – and 50 Years of Change – on a Frame

The First 50 ICON and First 50 Replica take Trek’s story – its innovations, values, collaborators, and defining moments – and transform them into a visual timeline on the frame. Each graphic marks a specific and significant chapter in Trek’s journey, from its beginnings in a barn to its transformation into a global brand determined to change the world through bikes.

The bike’s iconography – the original barn, Trek’s founders, NICA, Y-bike, sustainability, and many other elements – builds a complex picture of a company that has grown by innovating, evolving, and championing a cause greater than itself. It represents 50 years of evolution, in which every Trek cyclist has participated.

“There are surprises everywhere on the frame,” explains Micah Moran, Trek’s Art Director and lead designer for the project. “Every graphic element represents something real that has shaped Trek and cycling. It’s a bike you can ride and a story you can explore.”

The First 50 models are designed to reward curiosity, with layers of meaning that cyclists will discover at their own pace. An in-depth article at trekbikes.com/the-first-50 guides cyclists through the art, with explanations for each illustration, and a 50th Anniversary coffee table book, to be released in June 2026, expands each illustration into a story – a companion that decodes the bike and Trek’s first half-century.

Lidl-Trek’s WorldTour teams will race with the limited-edition The First 50 ICON model at the 2026 Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes, bringing the anniversary art and Trek’s history to the forefront of the sport.

Available exclusively on the Madone SLR 9 AXS, The First 50 ICON comes with a series of special edition details and additions. Each frame is numbered on the chainstays and includes a limited-edition white and red saddle with red rails and Aeolus RSL wheels with limited-edition graphics.

The First 50 Replica features the same narrative (the graphic icons, shared moments, the celebration of Trek’s first half-century) on the Madone SL 7. It offers cyclists another way to experience the artwork and history, combining the visual narrative with a build designed for a broader audience of cyclists.

No. 76 ICON

While The First 50 tells Trek’s story through iconography, the No. 76 is a Project One ICON that pays homage to where that story began.

Available exclusively on the Madone SLR 9 AXS, the No. 76 ICON combines the original visual language of early Trek frames with the engineering of Trek’s fastest road platform, creating a bike rooted in the present while honoring the legacy that shaped it.

The design incorporates Trek’s original 1976 logo, a graphic inspired by Trek’s first brass badge, and the brand’s traditional blue, a color inspired by Trek’s early handmade touring bikes. The design is deliberately understated, a minimalist and elegant nod to the time when five employees in a red Wisconsin barn decided to build something better.

The No. 76 ICON includes Aeolus RSL wheels with gold anniversary decals and a special edition white and red saddle with red rails, which integrates with the full collection and offers cyclists another premium option to celebrate this milestone year.

A Collection That Goes Beyond the Bike

The anniversary celebration will extend beyond the Madone with a range of specially designed 50th Anniversary accessories, each conceived to complement The First 50 graphics and integrate this story into daily rides. This range will include a limited-edition jersey, water bottles, t-shirts, and many other items that will be launched throughout the year.

2026 will also see the launch of a special 50th Anniversary edition of the Trek 100 on June 20, hosted at Trek’s global headquarters in Waterloo, Wisconsin. Registration will open soon.

Limited Order Period

Bikes from the 50th Anniversary Collection are available for pre-order until April 13 at trekbikes.com and at Trek retailers worldwide, with delivery starting in June 2026. After April 13, the order period for these models will end, and these bikes will no longer be available, even though the First 50 ICON will be used by the WorldTour team at the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes.
