Suunto’s story begins in Finland, when Tuomas Vohlonen invents a more precise and reliable liquid-filled compass, capable of withstanding extreme northern conditions. This foundational invention lays the groundwork for Suunto’s DNA: precision, durability, functionality, and respect for nature.
After the death of its founder in 1939, Elli Vohlonen takes over the reins of the company and shapes the Suunto spirit in its first decades. A legacy of clear design, endurance, and innovation that continues to define the brand today.
