This new feature marks the platform’s expansion into multisport training
MyWhoosh, the only completely free virtual training platform, launches its latest version, update 5.6, reaching a major milestone with the introduction of Rowing mode. This update marks MyWhoosh’s expansion beyond cycling and running and represents the first phase of its long-term multisport strategy.
Rowing mode is launched as a free rowing experience, allowing athletes to discover indoor rowing within the MyWhoosh ecosystem for the first time. Users can row freely in MyWhoosh’s first-ever dedicated rowing world, inspired by Lake Bled, and enjoy the same immersive virtual environments already offered for cycling and running.

This first launch phase establishes the foundation for rowing on MyWhoosh. Future phases will introduce structured rowing workouts, competitive race formats, and advanced performance metrics, further expanding training and competition opportunities for the global rowing community.
At launch, MyWhoosh 5.6 will support Concept2 rowers, ensuring recognized data accuracy and a familiar setup for experienced users. Support for other rowing equipment models is planned for future releases.

“The introduction of Rowing mode is a major step in our long-term vision for MyWhoosh,” said Matt Smithson, Director of Esports & Game Operations at MyWhoosh. “Our goal is to remove barriers between disciplines and offer athletes a single platform where they can train seriously, whether they are cyclists, runners, or now rowers. It’s about building a true multisport ecosystem, not just adding features.”
Version 5.6 also brings a major evolution for runners with the launch of the Custom Workout Builder for running. This new tool allows athletes to design structured interval-based sessions, according to their personal goals, pace strategies, and intensity targets.

Running updates in 5.6 include:
– Clearer interval-based workout creation
– Improved in-game visualization of workout structure

This update will allow runners using MyWhoosh to go beyond generic sessions and take control of their training; whether it’s preparing for a competition, improving their endurance, or following personalized programs.
To further strengthen competitive integrity, MyWhoosh 5.6 introduces enhanced Fair Play measures for selected events.
For eligible races:
– Active heart rate monitoring is now mandatory
– A short reconnection window is allowed in case of temporary signal loss
– Event-specific control may be applied in addition to category-based rules
These improvements build upon MyWhoosh’s existing integrity systems and help ensure that results reflect authentic performance and fair competition at all levels.

Additional information on update 5.6:
– With the introduction of new sports modes, some avatars may temporarily revert to default settings. All obtained or purchased items remain secure and can be re-selected in the Garage.
– Rowing mode is launched with Concept2 support. Other rowing equipment integrations are planned for future updates.
