Spinback 2025: A look back at the year for French Zwifters

Between structured training, growing competitions, and record-breaking performances, 2025 confirms the enthusiasm of the French for Zwift. Here are the key trends, figures, and specificities that marked twelve months of virtual cycling.

Training remains the #1 choice for the French

In 2025, French Zwifters clearly showed their preference: structured training came out on top of activities on Zwift, ahead of free rides. In total, 1.2 million training sessions were completed in France.

A deeply rooted competitive spirit

France stands out for its taste for challenges. It is, in fact, the only country to place the Zwift Games in its top 3 most popular events. The podium is completed by two essential events:

  • Tour de Zwift

  • Zwift Unlocked, new for 2025

A less demonstrative community

Another French peculiarity: French people give fewer Ride Ons than the global average. In 2025, a French Zwifter gave an average of 144 Ride Ons.

Habits similar to the rest of the world

General trends, however, remain similar:

  • Tuesday: preferred day to ride

  • January: most active month

  • Watopia: most popular world

1.3 billion kilometers covered

In 2025, Zwift users accumulated 1.3 billion kilometers, equivalent to 25,000 trips around the equator! January remains the most intense month with 226.7 million kilometers ridden.

Sessions of almost an hour

Across all formats, an average session lasts 59 minutes. Free rides dominate globally, supported by the diversity of the 12 worlds available.

Flagship events continue to attract crowds:

  • Tour de Zwift

  • Zwift Unlocked

  • The Big Spin

Very popular flat courses… but the love of climbing persists

The three most ridden routes in 2025 are all located in Watopia:

  1. Tempus Fugit

  2. Tick Tock

  3. Flat Route

However, ascents are not left out: Zwifters climbed 11.5 billion meters over the year. On January 5th, a record was even reached with 78 million meters climbed in a single day.
