Wheel Mastery Takes Over from Asterion

Behind the recently established Wheel Mastery is a former pillar and co-founder of Asterion, whose reputation for custom wheel building had spread far beyond the Lyon region. Looking back a few months, the transition between the two entities went quite smoothly. Benoit Stupici, who was at the heart of Asterion’s technical operations as a wheel fitter, founded Wheel Mastery, bringing with him the same high standards and commitment to quality.

A brief look back: Benoit Stupici worked at Asterion Wheels for 15 years while also serving as co-manager and technical director of the AIVEE hub brand for 10 years. Unfortunately, Asterion faced some difficulties, which led to its closure a few months ago. However, his technical expertise obviously remained intact, allowing Benoit Stupici to bounce back and create Wheel Mastery.

Today, he oversees the technical aspects, provides consultation, and handles the manufacturing of the wheels that come out of his workshop. With 23 years of experience and more than 21,000 wheels assembled to his credit, he personally hand-assembles high-end wheels that are fully customized for each future user.

And the phrase “fully customized wheels” is by no means an exaggeration. In fact, Benoit Stupici begins by having an in-depth initial discussion (followed by others if necessary) about the future user’s needs and project. He answers any legitimate questions but asks that you set aside at least 30 minutes for this initial discussion. Following these discussions, a technical proposal based on components selected in consultation with the future user is presented, along with a quote.

The wheelsets are therefore hand-built with the precision of a master craftsman, focusing on true customization—whereas others rely primarily on marketing. All customizations are possible: spokes, carbon or textile spokes (BERD or Ti-Rope, etc.), personalized graphics, and more.

The Final Stretch

If the Wheel Mastery offer is acceptable and during the project approval process, Benoît remains available to answer any questions and make any necessary adjustments.
Only when everything is “OK” for both parties is a delivery date provided. Once the wheels are ready (usually a few days after order confirmation if the parts were in stock), shipping is arranged, or a direct in-person pickup is also an option, allowing you to verify on-site the measures taken to produce the best possible wheels.
