This event marks a key milestone in the promotion of global cycling and highlights the emergence of African talent on the international stage. These championships offer an exceptional showcase for the new generation of African cyclists, supported by the UCI through its World Cycling Center (WCC) and the Continental Satellite in Paarl, South Africa, via a targeted strategy called “Africa 2025.”
A major new development in 2025 will be the introduction of separate races for Women’s U23 riders. Although world titles in this category have existed since 2022 (Wollongong, Australia), this will be the first time they will have competitions separate from the Elite Women’s events, marking a step forward for the visibility of women’s cycling.
Kigali 2025 promises to be a historic moment for cycling, celebrating both Africa and the future of the sport.
