Strava, the popular app for athletes, now offers an update for Apple Watch. This new version focuses on performance and integrates Strava Live Segments directly on your wrist for the first time.
An improved experience for athletes
In 2024, more and more athletes were using an Apple Watch to track their activities on Strava. To meet this demand, the new app offers a simple and intuitive interface with:
- A performance-oriented design to quickly start an activity and easily track your stats (pace, distance, time, heart rate)
- Automatic and reliable data synchronization to Strava
Live Segments: real-time competition
Live Segments allow you to compete in real-time on road or trail sections, favorite or popular worldwide. The watch displays a notification as you approach a segment, then live tracking of your progress with a visual indicator of your lead or deficit compared to your personal record.
Strava Premium subscribers benefit from additional features such as:
- Live performance tracking with comparison to your record
- A countdown of the remaining distance on the segment
- Instant display of results once the segment is completed
Strengthened collaboration between Strava and Apple
Matt Salazar, Product Manager at Strava, emphasizes that this update goes beyond simple tracking, bringing motivating real-time features. This announcement follows improvements in the connection between Apple Fitness+ and Strava, aiming to offer even more inspiration and motivation to athletes.
The new Strava Apple Watch app is available now on the App Store, with free trials to Apple Fitness+ for subscribed users or those in a trial period.
