Adidas SP0108 glasses review: ride in style

A few months ago, we had the pleasure – and the keen eye – of testing the Dunamis Pro and Anemos models from Adidas Sport Eyewear. Two pairs that seriously shook up our habits, as we thought there was no salvation outside of the sacred Oakley. Today, we’re putting on our race number again for a new field test with a more radical-looking pair: the SP0108, in matte black with gradient purple lenses. Between assertive style, 100% sport DNA, and solid comfort, here’s our feedback on these imposing frames.

A design that sets the tone (gradient purple, in this case)

At first glance, the SP0108 makes an impression. With their enveloping shield shape, they openly flirt with the aesthetic of ski goggles or 200m sprinters’ glasses – the kind you don’t just wear to look fast, but because you really are (or at least you believe you are).

The matte black color adds a sober and elegant touch, while the gradient purple lenses break the monotony with a true personality. The kind of pair you notice at the start of a ride, and even more so at the finish when everyone else is squinting except you. The visual compromise is well thought out: chic, aggressive but not too much, with a little retro-futuristic nod to Blade Runner on two wheels.

Killer detail: even the temples have character. Adidas leaves nothing to chance, even where the eye doesn’t go.

Comfort: a pleasant surprise

When you put them on, the mask effect might suggest a somewhat heavy or bulky pair. Wrong. The SP0108 are lightweight (around 30g on the scale), well-balanced, and stay perfectly in place. Even during agitated rides, between descents out of the saddle and violent accelerations, the frame doesn’t budge an inch. The nose pads play their role discreetly but effectively, and the well-ventilated temples prevent overheating around the temples – which is always a good thing in the middle of May.

The integrated ventilation system in the frame is also one of the model’s strengths. The side and front vents do their job well: fog hardly ever had time to settle, even during a slow climb in a damp undergrowth (the kind of terrain where usually, the only solution is to blow into your glasses like an annoyed flute player).

Face to face with style. We promise, it’s not just a look: it’s a vision.

Clear vision, solid protection

The gradient polycarbonate lens offers very good readability of the terrain. The purple tint is not just an aesthetic choice: it improves contrast and allows for better distinction of road details, especially on mixed sections of gravel, shade, and light. In short, your trajectories gain in precision, and your eyes in comfort.

The lens curvature offers an extended field of vision, without any peripheral distortion. And for cyclists who ride in groups (or who like to scrutinize their Strava segments during an ascent), this is a real plus. UV protection is, of course, present, and you can feel that the product was designed primarily for sports use. No glare effect, no eye fatigue after three hours of riding.

“Between dog and wolf,” we rely on the frame that never loses its way.

Field test: the SP0108 against asphalt (and a few muddy paths)

We tested the SP0108 in various contexts: road, gravel, and even a bit of mountain biking. The verdict? They adapt perfectly. Thanks to their stable hold and wide field of vision, they prove very reassuring on fast descents, and completely comfortable even on long rides of 4h+.

They also resisted the light rain of Val-d’Oise (yes, even in May, we’re still in Île-de-France) without slipping or fogging up. And while they are not as radical in their design as the Dunamis Pro or as transformable as the Anemos, they deliver solid and consistent performance. All-terrain glasses, in the noble sense of the term.

Clear view, mud accepted: the SP0108 means business… even when it gets bumpy.

Adidas, between heritage and modernity

We already emphasized this in our previous tests: Adidas has never been a mere extra in the peloton. Behind the mythical names of Klöden, Zabel, or Ulrich, there is a true tradition of innovation serving performance. Today’s Eyewear range extends this ambition with a modern design, cutting-edge technology, and a real understanding of cyclists’ expectations.

The SP0108 doesn’t try to tick all the gadget boxes. It focuses on the essentials: protect, ventilate, last. And with impeccable finish, a strong design, and a price often more affordable than some ultra-hyped competitors, it could well appeal to those who want to ride differently – but not halfway.

Style, comfort, vision: we ride calmly, but with class.

In summary: a mask for the real deal

If you’re looking for a high-performance, stylish, comfortable pair of glasses ready to tackle all your rides, the SP0108 clearly deserves its place in your arsenal. Less extreme than the Dunamis Pro, more assertive than the Anemos, it fills an intermediate space between pure performance and versatile use.

In short, a really good choice for demanding cyclists who want to maintain style… without getting spokes in their eyes.

The Adidas SP0108 in brief…

Pros: very wide field of vision, assertive but not extravagant look, excellent comfort and hold, purple lens performs well in mixed conditions, very effective ventilation

Cons: no quick lens change, non-photochromic lens
