… when technology redefines cycling comfort.
In the world of cycling, comfort is often sacrificed for the sake of performance. Yet an ill-fitting saddle can turn a pleasant ride into a real ordeal. With the emergence of 3D printing technologies, manufacturers are seeking to balance these two aspects. The Selle Italia Novus Boost Evo 3D TI316 is part of this trend, promising a unique experience. But does it really live up to its promises? We put it to the test… By Jeff Tatard – Photos: DR
An Innovative Design for Cyclists
At first glance, the Novus Boost Evo 3D captivates with its sleek, modern aesthetic. Its surface, created using DLS™ (Digital Light Synthesis) 3D printing technology, features a honeycomb structure that’s not just for looks: it’s designed to provide differentiated cushioning based on pressure zones. This approach allows for precise adaptation to the cyclist’s body shape, particularly at pressure points. The Superflow central cutout, a signature feature of Selle Italia, is designed to reduce pressure on the perineal area, thereby improving blood circulation and alleviating numbness during long rides. This ergonomic design is particularly appreciated by cyclists who suffer from pain caused by uneven pressure distribution.

Technical specifications designed for performance
In the version we chose to test, the Novus Boost Evo 3D TI316 measures 145 x 245 mm, corresponding to size L3 according to Selle Italia’s ID-Match system. This size is suitable for cyclists with medium to high pelvic rotation. That’s us…
Additionally, in this version, the TI316 alloy rails offer sturdiness, if not lightness. So, although they add a few grams compared to carbon rails, they ensure greater durability—essential for cyclists covering long distances or riding gravel.
The saddle weighs 246 g, which places it in the category of high-performance saddles without being ultralight. However, as we pointed out in a previous article, an obsession with ultra-lightweight designs isn’t always synonymous with performance. The priority here is clearly comfort and durability.
On the Road: A Transformed Experience
After riding several hundred kilometers on the Novus Boost Evo 3D, 3bikes’ verdict is clear: comfort is guaranteed. The 3D-printed structure effectively absorbs vibrations, even on uneven terrain. Support is consistent, with no areas of excessive pressure, allowing you to maintain a stable and efficient riding position. During climbs or sprints, the saddle moves with the rider without compromising pedaling power. This feeling of being a “natural extension of the body” is particularly appreciated during long rides, where muscle fatigue can be exacerbated by an ill-fitting saddle.
Comparison with the San Marco Shortfit 2.0 3D tested in February
The San Marco Shortfit 2.0 3D, which we tested a few months ago, also features a 3D-printed structure but stands out with a slightly different approach. As you may recall, its central cutout is more pronounced, designed to further improve comfort in the perineal area. It’s also available in two widths (140 and 155 mm) and offers a choice of steel or carbon rails.
In terms of comfort, both saddles deliver outstanding performance. However, in our opinion, the Novus Boost Evo 3D stands out for its ability to absorb vibrations and its more flexible structure, which is well-suited for long distances. The Shortfit 2.0 3D, on the other hand, is stiffer, which may suit riders looking for a firmer seating sensation.

3bikes’ Review
At 3bikes, we were won over by the Novus Boost Evo 3D TI316. Its innovative design, combined with cutting-edge technology, offers a level of comfort rarely matched. Although it weighs slightly more than some competitors, the difference is more than offset by the quality of the seat and the durability of the materials.
We recommend this saddle to regular cyclists, whether they enjoy long-distance rides, gravel riding, or road racing. It represents a significant investment, but one that’s justified by the performance and comfort it provides.

Conclusion: A saddle that redefines the standards
The Selle Italia Novus Boost Evo 3D TI316 is more than just a saddle: it’s the result of in-depth consideration of the needs of modern cyclists. By incorporating the latest advanced technologies, it successfully balances comfort, performance, and durability.
If you’re looking for a saddle capable of turning your rides into truly enjoyable experiences, the Novus Boost Evo 3D TI316 is well worth your consideration. And as the saying goes, “It’s better to invest in a good saddle than in physical therapy sessions.”
