Pirelli launches the P ZERO Race RS tubed tire

Pirelli unveils the P ZERO Race RS, a tubed (tube-type) version of its high-end road cycling race tire. This new model is part of the P ZERO Race range, manufactured in the Milan-Bollate factory. Since June 2024, all tires produced at this site incorporate FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified natural rubber, guaranteeing sustainable forest management.

The P ZERO Race RS positions itself as the flagship of Pirelli’s tubed (tube-type) tires, completing an offering that already includes the P ZERO Race TLR RS (Tubeless Ready), the versatile P ZERO Race TLR, and the P ZERO Race TubeType. This diversification allows Pirelli to meet the expectations of cyclists who prefer the two most common technologies: inner tube and tubeless.

Designed for cyclists seeking performance, practicality, and lightness, this tire was developed based on feedback from World Tour teams Lidl-Trek and Alpecin-Deceuninck. These athletes tested the product during training sessions and on alpine stages of last season’s Grand Tours.

Designed for use with Pirelli’s ultra-light SmarTUBE inner tube, the P ZERO Race RS reduces weight by approximately 50 g per wheel, while maintaining rolling resistance comparable to that of the latest generation TLR tires, for a smooth and responsive ride.

An improved SmartEVO 2 compound

The P ZERO Race RS benefits from the SmartEVO 2 compound, an evolution of the original SmartEVO blend. Developed in Pirelli’s factories dedicated to motorsports, this compound is based on “intelligent” polymers, chemically treated to optimize their properties. It thus offers enhanced grip and increased speed.

Available now in specialized stores and online, the P ZERO Race RS comes in sizes 26-622, 28-622, and 30-622, with sidewalls offered in three colors: Black, Classic, and Retro. In size 28-622, its weight is 230 g.
