Ursus unveils the PROXIMA Team Edition, a wheel designed to combine lightness, reliability, and smoothness, meeting World Tour level requirements. Officially used by the Picnic PostNL team, this wheel weighs 1,350 g per pair for the 35 mm rims and integrates Ursus’s proprietary U-RS Xeramik™ hub.

The Proxima Team Edition is suitable for a wide variety of terrains, from climbs to gravel and cobbled courses. This model marks Ursus’s first partnership with an elite road cycling team, accompanying the Picnic PostNL riders since the start of the 2025 season.
The official presentation took place during the first Monument of the year, Milan-Sanremo, after notable performances early in the season.
The Proxima Team Edition stands out for its performance-oriented design, with high responsiveness and robustness adapted to the needs of a World Tour team.
It supports climbers like Romain Bardet and Marta Cavalli in the mountains, sprinters like Fabio Jakobsen and Charlotte Kool on the flats, as well as cobbled specialists such as John Degenkolb and Pfeiffer Georgi. Tested in races like Strade Bianche, it is ready for the Northern Classics.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Technically, this 1,350 g wheelset (in 35 mm) is the lightest in Ursus’s road range. The U-RS Xeramik™ hubs, made of AI 7075 aluminum with ceramic bearings, ensure durability and smoothness. The U-press™ system allows for tool-free disassembly for quick maintenance.
The unidirectional carbon fiber rims are available in four depths (35, 40, 50, 60 mm), with an external width of 30 mm (29 mm for the 35 mm version) and an internal width of 23 mm, compatible with 28C tires or wider, in tubeless or with inner tubes. The minihook technology optimizes weight and reinforces tire retention, while the aerodynamic profile improves stability against crosswinds.
The laced 2-cross spoke pattern, with 24 Sapim CX-Ray Straight Pull spokes with an elliptical profile, ensures rigidity and power transmission. Sapim’s Secure Lock system prevents nipple loosening, eliminating the need for regular re-tensioning.
Compatible with Center Lock disc brakes and major drivetrain standards (Shimano HG 10/11/12s, SRAM XD/XDR 11/12s, Campagnolo 10/11/12s, etc.), it offers simple installation.
Validated by the Picnic PostNL team after rigorous testing, the PROXIMA Team Edition has demonstrated its versatility on various race profiles, from mountain passes to cobbles, including gravel.

Available in four depths (35, 40, 50, 60 mm), it is sold for €1,750 per pair on the www.ursus.it website and at authorized Ursus dealers, catering to both professionals and amateurs seeking high-level equipment.
