South Burgundy Gravel & Cyclo – 40 days before the start

La Sud Bourgogne | Gravel & Cyclo will be held on April 26 and 27, 2025, in Viré, marking the opening of the Cyclo’Tour Classified and the Gravel’Tour Cannondale as part of the Cycling Challenge. This event, which will take place in 40 days, invites participants to explore the Southern Burgundy Massif, its vineyards, and its landscapes, while inaugurating the season with the first race numbers.

Considered a notable early-season event, La Sud Bourgogne offers gravel and cyclo routes adapted to this spring period. Approximately 1,000 participants are expected to tackle demanding but accessible courses, ideal for resuming training.

Flexible formula

The weekend is organized over one or two days, offering a flexible formula for all levels and objectives.

On Saturday morning, two road cycling tours (51 km with 700 m D+ and 84 km with 1,400 m D+) open the event. The afternoon is dedicated to gravel with two courses (42 km with 950 m D+ and 62 km with 1,450 m D+), available in timed or touring versions.

On Sunday morning, sportive cyclists can choose between three options: 51 km with 700 m D+ (touring), 84 km with 1,400 m D+ (timed or touring), and 122 km with 2,000 m D+ (timed).

New courses include climbs such as the Col des Chèvres, the Col de la Percée, the Col de Brançion, and the Col de la Croix.

Demanding itineraries

Although less technical than a mountain stage, these itineraries require constant effort. Participants will cross renowned vineyards and typical Romanesque villages of Southern Burgundy.

Local produce is highlighted with a refreshment stop offered on Sunday morning on the 51 km course, at the Cave de Lugny, in collaboration with local winemakers and producers. Each participant will also receive a bottle of Mâcon Village from Maison Vérizet.

Registrations are open for this event on April 26 and 27, 2025, with a price change scheduled for March 26 at 11:59 PM. More information on registration details is available.
