Concrete Actions for Measurable Impact

Since the publication of its first report in 2021, Trek has implemented ambitious initiatives to limit the environmental impact of its activities. This year, the company announces that its short-term goals have been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), ensuring a trajectory aligned with scientific recommendations on greenhouse gas emission reduction.

Among the major advances in the 2024 report:

  • Transition to cleaner aluminum: Trek now sources aluminum from factories powered by renewable energy, reducing emissions related to the production of certain frames by up to 70%.
  • Increased use of recycled materials: recycled foams in helmets, water bottles made from 95% plant-based materials, and plastic-free packaging.
  • Optimization of e-bike batteries: Trek extends their lifespan and facilitates their recycling through concrete solutions, in partnership with Call2Recycle.
  • Renewable energy: Trek now powers 100% of its global headquarters and main factory with clean energy and aims for this goal for all its infrastructures by 2030.
  • Encouragement towards sustainable mobility: through programs like PeopleForBikes and the Trek Foundation, Trek invests in making cities more bike-friendly and accessible to all.

A Call to Action for the Entire Industry

Trek is not content to act alone but invites the entire sector to follow suit. The company is implementing more demanding standards for its suppliers and openly sharing its approaches, with the ambition of inspiring a global transformation.

“We are not just here to make bikes; we are here to make a difference,” says John Burke, President of Trek Bicycle. “This report illustrates our progress, but above all, our commitment to continue pushing further.”
