Gravel has evolved from a niche activity into one of the most dynamic cycling disciplines in the world. Its appeal lies in the freedom to explore routes beyond the tarmac while offering the thrill of competition. Today, Gravel can be divided into two categories: adventure and speed.
Competition is part of Orbea’s very essence. Its history is marked by the development of innovative products and by supporting elite athletes on their path to victory. It is with this philosophy that the brand is entering the competitive Gravel category, with a group of top-level athletes who will represent Orbea in the world’s most prestigious events.
Leading Figures in the Discipline
The Basque brand is pleased to announce its Gravel athletes, who bring all their experience and talent to the discipline:
● Griffin Easter (USA): will participate in the Lifetime Grand Prix and European Gravel events.
● Morgan Aguirre (USA): female rider who will compete in the Gravel Series, Lifetime Grand Prix, and UCI events.
● Lawrence Naesen (Belgium): former professional road cyclist who will participate in the Gravel Series, Lifetime Grand Prix, and UCI events.
● Luis Ángel Maté (Spain): former professional road cyclist who will focus on high-level Gravel races and bikepacking adventures.
● Gustave Orain (France): will compete in the Gravel Earth Series with Top 10 objectives.
● Lukas Baum and Georg Egger (Germany): the Speed Company Racing duo, ready to shine in the most demanding races.
A Bike to Tame Gravel
To meet the challenges of Gravel races, athletes will rely on the Terra, a bike designed for speed, versatility, and endurance. Its lightweight frame and optimized geometry ensure efficiency and comfort over long distances. Orbea is committed with ambition and determination to the future of Gravel.
