Cyclists know it, they’ve read it countless times: on a bike, wheels are an extremely important element, they can truly change the riding sensations, and that’s why Campagnolo continues to invest in this product category. Straight out of the R&D laboratories in Vicenza, the new Shamal – Dual Profile wheels take the characteristics of previous models and elevate them to an unprecedented level thanks to a new differentiated profile design.

Indeed, the “Shamal” project has always represented a challenge for the future for Campagnolo. Born in 1992, it was the first wheel to introduce the concept of a deep profile, an aerodynamic design that was absolutely revolutionary for its time and immediately successful: cycling historians remember it at the 1994 Giro d’Italia with Evgenij Berzin, but also in Miguel Indurain’s famous time trials, and in Marco Pantani’s exploits at the Tour de France.

Today, within Campagnolo’s vast wheel range, the new Shamal – Dual Profile wheels represent the ideal solution for expert cyclists looking for a product with a good quality/price ratio.

Shamal wheels, like all Campagnolo wheels, are designed and manufactured in Europe, with a strictly manual assembly process and under the supervision of highly qualified operators. Every stage of production, from the creation of each component to the final manufacturing, is carefully controlled to ensure maximum quality and precision.

New Campagnolo Shamal: versatility is its strength

The innovative, even revolutionary, element lies in the wheel’s design called Dual Profile, first developed through CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses, then perfected in the wind tunnel and through road tests, until the final carbon shaping. An original modular profile which, combined with differentiated flange hubs, allows for shorter spokes, benefiting overall stiffness, without the cyclist having to sacrifice pedaling comfort.

As with previous models, the new Shamal – Dual Profile adopts a unidirectional fiber design with C-LUX finish, a hidden but fundamental feature for the quality of the final product: the sheets do not intertwine but are arranged one on top of the other according to a structure that allows for the homogeneous distribution of mechanical loads along the fiber direction. A solution which, when brought to the road, allows for optimal riding in all conditions, while also enabling the use of more generous tires, especially for gravel.

New Campagnolo Shamal: engineering in constant evolution

In response to the ever-increasing demand for wheels equipped with larger tire sizes for the benefit of rider fluidity and comfort, the Shamal – Dual Profile wheels offer an internal channel with hooked technology, capable of accommodating a wide range of tire sizes, starting from 28 mm. The essence of the new Campagnolo Shamal wheels is also manifested in the 2 Way Fit system, which allows the cyclist to choose between the classic tubed (tube-type) tire solution or the tubeless solution, the latter being made possible by the undrilled upper bridge, which avoids the need for adhesive tape. For nipple positioning, the Shamal uses the proven MoMag system, which guides the nipples into their housing with the help of a magnet.

The spokes are arranged according to the G3 lacing geometry, an iconic signature of Campagnolo production, which features seven sections with three parallel and differentiated spokes in a 2 to 1 ratio: two spokes on the most stressed side (the right on the rear wheel due to the cassette; the left on the front, due to the rotor), balanced by a pulling spoke on the opposite side. This patented system ensures the cyclist perfect tension balance and the best stiffness for transferring the power generated by the pedals.

New Campagnolo Shamal: for those seeking versatility

The fluidity of the new Campagnolo Shamal is entrusted to aluminum hubs with a cup-and-cone system, which allows for easy bearing maintenance. Compared to the previous model, the new materials adopted save more than one hundred grams, for a total weight of 1480 g.

Values and technologies that make the Shamal – Dual Profile offering the ideal solution for the cyclist looking for a versatile wheel, capable of performing in different contexts, made with methodologies and technologies inspired by higher-end models, and with an attractive cost-to-quality ratio that the wheels can offer.

The Shamal – Dual Profile wheels are available with the N3W, HG, and XDR freehub bodies at a recommended retail price starting from €1890.00.
