Giant and Liv Unveil Their New Triathlon and TT Bikes: The Trinity Advanced SL and Avow Advanced SL

On January 9, Australian Luke Plapp became Australian Time Trial Champion riding a disc-brake Giant Trinity, a highly anticipated bike presented this week by Giant. This new Trinity remains an aero benchmark and adopts an Advanced SL construction, allowing it to save over 500 g on the frameset. It also benefits from a new design that multiplies the possibilities for position adjustment at the saddle clamp, but especially at the cockpit. Liv, the Giant group’s brand dedicated to women, presents Avow Advanced SL, which offers the same characteristics.

In the opinion of many specialists, the previous generation Trinity was a very aero bike: one of the best in its category according to wind tunnel tests. For the Giant development team, the challenge was to maintain this aerodynamic quality while integrating a disc braking system. Mission accomplished, as the new model loses none of its legendary aerodynamics; test results even show a slight improvement, saving precious watts on all terrains.

A New Advanced SL Construction

In this new version, the Trinity adopts an Advanced SL construction, allowing it to save 558 g compared to the previous generation which featured Advanced technology. The weight-to-stiffness ratio is significantly improved. Professional-grade raw carbon fiber is woven to produce Giant’s lightest, stiffest, and highest quality frames.

A More Adjustable Trinity

The new version of the Trinity is more adjustable at the seatpost with a setback range of 51 mm. The cockpit is height-adjustable via a shim system that can vary the height of the extensions by 80 mm, in reach over a range of 75 mm, and in angulation across 3 positions (0°, 10°, and 15°). The elbow pad spacing and the extensions are also adjustable. By combining all possibilities, there are 24 times more cockpit adjustment options than on the previous model.

While waiting for a range expansion in the spring, Giant is presenting three products today:

• Giant Trinity Advanced SL 0: SRAM RED E1 Groupset, 12-speed, 10×33, new CADEX 4-Spoke Disc wheels: 12000 €.

The Liv Avow for Women

At the same time, the Giant group presents the Liv Avow Advanced SL Tri, a frameset dedicated to triathlon and time trial efforts: a product meeting the needs of women seeking very high performance.

“Since the launch of the Liv Avow in 2016, the number of women participating in triathlons has steadily increased each year,” says Cassondra Spring, Liv’s Global Brand Manager. “In 2017, women represented only 30% of participants at the Ironman World Championships. By 2023, that number had climbed to 49%. This evolution reinforces our commitment to creating high-performance products like the Avow, designed to enable women to achieve their best, whether they are competing on the world stage, within the Liv Racing Collective or Liv AlUla Jayco, or pursuing personal triathlon and time trial goals anywhere in the world.”
